Hi, my name is Beverly Ovalle and I’m horrible at keeping resolutions. Normally I don’t do any! This year however, I have two. Okay, maybe three! I plan on keeping all of them. By December 31, 2020. I have a year, right?
Resolution number one: Get fit. I know, everyone starts the year with this. But I’m diabetic and my weight has gotten out of control. It isn’t so much the extra weight as I don’t feel good. Part of it is retiring last year and becoming a couch potato! I’m not looking for a drastic diet. I know I couldn’t keep that up. What I’m planning is cutting sugar. It helps when I can’t even eat a candy bar without my stomach protesting! Sad, but true. Since I’m not supposed to have it anyway, I’ve been avoiding the added sugar. We’ll see if it helps. It has helped my blood sugar levels!
Plus, I want to add physical activity to that! I get a build up of restless energy and need to let it rip. I’m debating on a health club, but I really prefer walking. That’s free at my local senior center or anywhere outside. If I want to leave the house. I had to get rid of my treadmill when my daughter moved home. Before I invest in another one decided to kill two birds with one stone. Which brings me to resolution number two.
Here it is: I need to clean up one of the rooms in my basement. Moving all the years of accumulated junk should use up that energy. (Two birds!) Once it is cleaned up, I’ll have my exercise room back. I set it up, oh seven years or so ago, then we cleaned house and all the junk ended up in the basement. A lot of it is no longer even usable. Since we’ve had a lot of rain and my basement is fieldstone.
I have an exercise bike, this weird running rubber band thingy I love and something else, but it’s buried and I don’t remember what it even is. If, no when, I clean it out, I’ll be able to get rid of energy without having to people. Yay! Then I’ll be able to go down there whenever my fancy strikes. Or I’m ready to snap if I don’t use up that energy.
Resolution number three: Write. I plan on getting out two novels, one short story (for an anthology for WOTR), and two novellas this year. I’m currently on track for my first novel, a paranormal romance, Book three in A Dragon’s Fated Heart series to be published in March. I’ve just about got the first draft done and will be sending it out for critic and then my editor. I already have the cover.
My short is a second chance romance. It has to be, lol. That is the theme! It will feature one of my characters from my Santiago series, Tio Mateo. There, it’s in writing, I have to go with it!
I’ll also be finishing China Fleet Club a contemporary romance that occasionally crosses over with reality from my time in the Navy. I’ll leave it to the reader to try to figure out!
My novella’s will be scifi romance. I put a story out in We know the truth, do you? in September and I had so much fun with it, I want to do more. Okay, I’ve already started at least one and my brain knows the next one. Possibly the one after even!
Feel free to ask me through the year about where I’m at with my resolutions! I’m happy to announce my successes and failures!
Hope your resolutions are all achievable! Hugs and sloppy kisses!

More About Beverly
Beverly Ovalle dabbled with writing on and off for years when her best friend finally dared her to submit a story to a writing contest. Beverly decided she had nothing to lose and since she'd always wanted to be an author sent it in and agonized for months waiting to hear back. Contract in hand she has never looked back. An avid fan of all romance, Beverly's goal is to share her love of the written word and write the hot and erotic romances that she enjoys. She writes what she loves to read and it was only a matter of time before her obsessions crept into her writing for her to share. She hopes you enjoy her tales as much as she loves writing them.
