Hi! To start off, please tell us your name, where you’re from, and what you write.
I’m Vicki Batman (yes, my real name. I get to tell everyone I married a superhero). I’m from Texas and I write romantic comedy short stories and humorous romantic mysteries.
How did you become an author? Please share a bit of your journey with us.
I have a friend who urged me (she takes full credit, too). She read about eight chapters and said, “Keep going,” so I did.
What are you working on now? Do you have a recent or upcoming release?
I have several stories in the works – my third mystery, Temporarily Out of Luck; Romeo and Julietta, a holiday story; and Pixie Trixie, a paranormal romance short story. On June 1, I pubbed Just Desserts…and Other Stories, eleven cute meet short stories.
What/who do you like to read and do you have a favorite genre/author?
When my #1 son was a baby, I discovered Dick Francis mysteries and when Handsome asked me why I liked them so, I finally confessed how I wished I could write like him. It took me a long while before I did.
Please share one piece of advice to aspiring authors - what do you wish someone would have told you? Or, what did someone tell you that you’d like to pass on to others?
Persistence. Once I entered a contest for critique and scribbled on the returned manuscript were these words: Why are you writing? I was crushed. VERY CRUSHED. After two days, I said to myself that no one could determine my destiny except for me. I persisted.
Good for you for persisting!!! And lucky for your readers, too!!!
City, suburb, or small-town? City girl.
Dark chocolate, light chocolate, or white chocolate? Hershey’s
Wine, whiskey or punch? Good champagne
Hot dogs, hamburgers, or tacos? Hamburgers
Cowboy boots, biker boots, or flip-flops? Flip flops.
Cake, cookies, or crumpets? I adore cake!!!
Any last words before we say goodbye?
I hope many of you who like funny stories will check out my works. Find me at: http://www.vickibatman.blogspot.com . Reading is truly my best friend.
Mine, too. :-) Thank you for spending some time with us today, Vicki!
