Hi! To start off, please tell us your name, where you’re from, and what you write.
I’m Claire Gem, and I live in Massachusetts, USA. I write contemporary romance and supernatural suspense.
How did you become an author? Please share a bit of your journey with us.
It was a long and winding road J I started writing creative essays and feature articles for magazines about fifteen years ago. Finally, I decided to get serious about my writing career and went for my MFA in creative writing, which I earned from Lesley University in 2012. The following year, I secured two contracts: one for my memoir, and one for my debut paranormal romance. Since then I’ve published five more romance novels and a writer’s resource guide.
What are you working on now? Do you have a recent or upcoming release?
I have started working on the second in my Love at Lake George series called Anchor My Heart. This is contemporary romance set at Lake George, N.Y., a favorite vacation destination for me all of my life. My most recent release was on April 1st, 2018, the third in my Haunted Voices series titled Civil Hearts.
Please tell us your favorite holiday and why.
My favorite holiday is Halloween. I guess that’s why I write supernatural suspense—I love to tell ghost stories. I am fascinated with the supernatural, and I most definitely do believe in ghosts. It delights me they have a holiday of their very own . . .
Please share one piece of advice to aspiring authors - what do you wish someone would have told you? Or, what did someone tell you that you’d like to pass on to others?
Write what you love, not what you think the reading public will buy. If you aren’t passionate about what you write, there will be no passion on the page. Passionate writing has an audience, no matter what the genre.
