Hi! To start off, please tell us your name, where you’re from, and what you write.
Hey guys! I’m Amelia and I’m originally from the sunny south and now, tragically am trapped in the wintery north. I write contemporary romance and absolutely adore second chance romances.
How did you become an author? Please share a bit of your journey with us.
My first “book” was when I was 5 years old, complete with illustrations. Fortunately my writing has improved, sadly my artistic skills have not. I’ve always been an avid reader and loved to live in fantasy land so it didn’t take long for my two favorite pastimes to converge.
What are you working on now? Do you have a recent or upcoming release?
I just released the third book in my Meant To Be series, Meant to be Family and I am currently working on the fourth and final book in that series, Meant to be More.
What is the most challenging part of writing romance?
Oh gosh, I think the thing that challenges me the most is feeling confident that I’ve made that connection between reader and character. My characters are so real and vivid to me and I want desperately for everyone who reads about them to feel the same way.
What kind of research do you do when you set out to write a new book?
I research everything. For instance, in Meant to be Family, Connor and Kelsey attend UNC Asheville so I researched the degree programs to be sure they’d fit, I checked out the different dorms, and transferred them to UNC Charlotte when the time came for Kelsey to finish her degree to become a physical therapist. I also spoke with an amazing woman who had gone through the adoption process in North Carolina more than once through the foster care system to try to be as accurate and authentic as possible.
Please share one piece of advice to aspiring authors - what do you wish someone would have told you?
I wish someone would have told me to breathe and cherish every moment of the process. The more you know, the more you’ll stress and question everything. As you start on your journey, don’t focus on sales. That will come. Simply breathe and live in the experience of turning your thoughts into words and your words into stories.
What do you love the most about the month of November?
Thanksgiving, hands down. It is my favorite holiday. I love to cook (and have a section in my newsletter devoted to recipes I’ve mentioned in various books in the Meant To Be series) and try out new recipes so a day devoted to loving your life and the food that makes it up? Yeah, that’s all me.
Any last words before we go into the speed round?
Eeep! I’d like to thank the folks at LoveRomanceReads for having me and invite everyone to stalk me on social media. Feel free to email too, I absolutely LOVE hearing from people who read my books.
City, suburb, or small-town?
I have always lives in small towns/rural areas and love them.
Alpha, beta, or both?
I am personally so submissive it’s rather pathetic so… definitely into the alpha type.
Wine, whiskey or punch?
Actually… margaritas are my default, but I am a sucker for a sweet red wine.
Boxers, briefs, or commando?
Boxers all day and night. Easy to slip on and off ;-)
Top, bottom, or against the wall?
Against the wall. Without a doubt.
Meant to be Kept
One night. One too many drinks. One mistake. That’s all it took to derail my marriage.
Now, all I can do is beg for a second chance. To try and redeem myself in a bid not to lose the love of my life.
I’m determined to use every second, every moment I have to show my wife how much she means to me—to rebuild the trust I shattered.
But the harder I try, the more I start to realize our marriage had fallen into a routine of complacency and misplaced priorities long before my indiscretion.
Isabelle is a strong, passionate, beautiful woman—a wife who has sacrificed so much for me. I just hope it’s not too late for us, and that I’ll be able to convince her that our love is meant to be kept.
More About Amelia
Science tells us humans are made of 60% water. For me, that would be more like 60% coffee, 10% chocolate, mixed with equal parts sarcasm and dirty jokes. Forever in love with the written word – whether reading or writing – I have a special affinity for romances with saccharine sweet HEAs. Bonus points if there is a puppy. From sweet & adorable to smutty & salacious I will greedily devour them all.
